Brazil’s Visa Requirements for Australia, Canada, and US Start Oct. 1

As previously reported, the Brazilian government has decided to reinstate the visit visa requirement for citizens of Australia, Canada and the United States, as these countries have not granted Brazilian citizens reciprocal visa-free entry.

From October 1, 2023, citizens of these countries will again require a visit visa to enter Brazil. Those entering before September 30, 2023, will be exempt from the visit visa requirement even if they leave after October 1, 2023.

The Brazilian visit visa is valid for stays of up to 90 days for tourism, business or study.

The original announcement concerning the reinstatement of visit visas also included citizens of Japan. Brazil and Japan have recently agreed to a reciprocal visa-waiver arrangement.
