Paris Summer Olympic Games
The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will take place from July 26, to August 11, 2024.
Olympic Games by the numbers
- millions of spectators
- 10,500 athletes
- 20,000 accredited journalists
- 31,500 volunteers
Counting down to the Games
From January 1, 2024, the French government made the application process for a French Schengen Visa available completely online for the participants of the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Olympic Consulate
- The “Olympic Consulate” will process thousands of visa applications for athletes, journalists, and Olympic and Paralympic delegations.
- These individuals will have access to premium processing and waived fees, and will have fewer document requirements and can hold onto their passport throughout the process.
- Olympic Games attendees who are invited by the Organizing Committe of the Olympic Games (OGOC) will also have a simplified visa process.
- The Olympic Consultate system will allow the French immigration authorities to differentiate between the Olympic and Paralympic applications and the general applications.
France is the first EU country to process Schengen visas online, in line with the visa digitization plans the EU Parliament adopted in October 2023.
What to Expect: Individuals traveling or moving to France during the Summer Games should expect some processing delays as a result of the increased tourism.
