Costa Rica | The government will extend the border closure until June 30.

Greece | As previously reported, Greece’s borders would reopen for international travel and tourism on June 15, with visitors randomly tested for the coronavirus. The government has said it would not limit incoming tourists to those from the list of 29 nations. Still, other travelers arriving between June 15 and June 30 would be subject to testing and a period of quarantine depending on the results. An expanded list of countries will be released on July 1.

India | Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended the lockdown in areas with a high number of infections until June 30. Still, from June 8, in other areas of the country, restaurants, shopping centers, and religious buildings may reopen with social distancing requirements and staggered business hours.

Italy | Beginning June 3, travel will be permitted across the country. Currently, movement is only allowed within the home region. Additionally, travel to and from the Schengen States, EU, and the United States will be allowed. Individuals traveling from these regions will not have to self-isolate for 14 days so long as they were not in the other country for 14 days before entering Italy.

Japan | The country’s borders may reopen to travelers from countries with low levels of the coronavirus, including Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and Vietnam. Travelers would have to test negative for the coronavirus before departure and on arrival, and their movements within the country would be highly restricted.

North Macedonia | The government has extended the state of emergency for two more weeks.

Singapore | After four months of no travel, a new “fast lane” for business and essential travel between Singapore and China will resume, initially between Singapore and six Chinese cities, including Shanghai.

South Africa | Beginning June 1, domestic air travel for business purposes is permitted.

Spain | Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will ask parliament to extend the country’s lockdown until June 21. After June 21, citizens will be able to move within their home regions; after July 1, they will be able to move throughout the country.

Sri Lanka | The country will reopen for tourism on August 1.

Turkey | Beginning June 1, domestic air travel will resume between major Turkish cities of Ankara, Antalya, Izmir, and Trabzon.

The United Arab Emirates | The government has announced a one-week traffic ban on entering and exiting Abu Dhabi to begin on June 2.

The United Kingdom | Visa application centers will open overseas from June 1 in Bangkok, Beijing, Berlin, Brisbane, Canberra, Chongqing, Dusseldorf, Fiji, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne, Minsk, Munich, Perth, Shanghai, Sydney, Taipei, and Ukraine. As the visa centers reopen, there will not be priority or super-priority services, and applicants should expect delays in processing times.
