The Trump Administration is reportedly planning to close all 23 international USCIS offices, which currently handle family visa requests, international adoptions, and other tasks. The Director of USCIS announced in an internal email sent to USCIS staff that the agency is currently working to transfer these tasks to domestic USCIS offices as well as the State Department’s Embassies and Consulates. According to an agency spokeswoman, “the goal of any such shift would be to maximize USCIS resources that could then be reallocated, in part, to backlog reduction efforts.”
