UK Releases Quarantine Requirements for Minor Children

From 4 am, Monday, November 22, 2021, the travel requirements for children (aged 17 and younger) will no longer depend on their place of residence. The rules that currently apply to children residing in the UK or a country with approved proof of vaccination will apply to all children.

Key Changes
  • From Monday, November 22, all children will be able to enter the UK without quarantine upon arrival. This applies whether they are vaccinated or not.
  • Children aged 4 and under do not have to take any COVID-19 travel tests.
  • Children between 5 and 17 years old do not have to take a COVID-19 test before traveling to England but must take a test on or before day 2 – arrival day is day 0.

Current Requirements — Ending on 11.22.2021

Children, 5 to 17 years old, who are residents in any country that is not on the approved proof of vaccination list must:

  • take a COVID-19 test (if aged 11 or above) before traveling to England
  • take a COVID-19 PCR test on or before day 2 in England – arrival day is day 0
  • take a COVID-19 PCR test on or after day 8 in England – arrival day is day 0
  • quarantine at home or in the place they’re staying for 10 full days, or the duration of their stay if it’s less than 10 days

Children aged 4 or under from these other countries do not have to take travel tests but must follow quarantine rules. Test to release is an option to reduce the quarantine period.
