On September 18, 2023, Thailand’s Ministry of Interior announced that travelers from China and Kazakhstan would be eligible for visa-free travel to Thailand. This is in response to the decline of the tourism sector due to the outbreak of COVID-19, and the adverse effect on Thailand’s economy.
Key Highlights
- The announcement and visa-free travel eligibility is in effect from September 25, 2023 to February 29, 2024.
- Passport holders or those holding documents that can serve as a passport replacement from the People’s Republic of China or Kazakhstan will be allowed a stay of no more than 30 days.
- An accompanying release from the Immigration Bureau has also stated that the visa holder is allowed an extension for another 30 days. Furthermore, this type of visa can be converted to a NON-IMMIGRANT “B” visa, which is suitable for working in Thailand.
