USCIS has announced that, as a result of the Department of Homeland Security’s Public Charge rule, several forms for applications of immigration benefits, including form I-485 applications for adjustment of status and form I-129 petitions for nonimmigrant workers, will be updated as of October 15. USCIS will no longer accept the current edition of these forms after this date, however, the updated forms have not yet been released. The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) has filed a lawsuit seeking to prevent USCIS from moving forward with the new forms without adequate time for foreign nationals, their employers, and their legal representatives to review and prepare the updated application forms.
