New South Wales Permits Temporary Resident Visa Holders’ Children to Access Local Education Services

Starting January 1, 2025, a new enrollment policy in NSW will make it easier for children of temporary resident visa holders to access education in their local schools.

Key Changes
  1. Local Enrollment: All students on a temporary resident visa can now enroll in their local school based on their residential address, streamlining the process and reducing barriers to education.
  2. Enrollment Fee Waivers for Regional Families: Families residing outside Greater Sydney and Wollongong with Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) visas (subclass 482) will see enrollment fees waived, making education more accessible for those in regional areas.
