USCIS Will Begin Processing Work Permits and Advance Parole Separately

USCIS will “decouple” the EAD from the Advance Parole document to reduce the significant backlog in processing Employment Authorization Documents. The backlog in EAD processing times has increased during the pandemic and threatens employment continuity for immigrants. The EAD cards that do not indicate Advance Parole status may still be used for employment but not for travel. A separate Advance Parole Document will be sent for travel purposes.
