On Wednesday, August 7, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced it would introduce “a single, secure portal” for the public to report “credible and relevant claims of immigration benefit fraud.”
USCIS will accept additional public comment on the form beginning Thursday, August 8.
Individuals will be able to submit concerns about current immigration cases and already approved requests with ongoing benefits. USCIS did not clarify if green card holders and naturalized citizens would be open to such review.
Opponents of this program stress the impact that false reporting could have on immigrants and immigrant communities and the already limited resources of USCIS.
