On December 20, the US State Department revised its classification for 18 countries, including Bonaire, Chad, Finland, French Guiana, Lebanon, Moldova, Spain, Sudan, and Sierra Leone, upgrading them all to “Level 4: Do Not Travel.” On December 13, Italy, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Mauritius, and Tanzania were all graded “Level 4: Do Not Travel.”
What to Expect
Travelers who plan to travel to these regions should be aware of local trends and requirements. According the State Department, “During an emergency, the U.S. government may have very limited ability to provide assistance. The Department of State advises that U.S. citizens not travel to the country or to leave as soon as it is safe to do so.”
