From November 8, the United States will reopen to fully vaccinated travelers via air and land entry points.
The reopening date came on October 15 from White House Assistant Press Secretary Kevin Muniz, who tweeted, “The US’ [sic] new travel policy that requires vaccination for foreign national travelers to the United States will begin on November 8. This announcement and date applies to both international air travel and land travel. This policy is guided by public health, stringent, and consistent.”
What to Expect
Individuals who wish to travel to the United States will have to:
- Show proof of full vaccination with an approved vaccine following CDC guidance;
- Provide negative COVID-19 test results taken in the previous 3 days;
- Travelers must wear a mask while traveling;
- Provide an email address and phone number for contact tracing
Erickson Insights
For several months the Biden administration and counterparts in the EU, UK, Canada, and Mexico have been working on plans to safely reinstate international travel. In late September, the Biden administration announced that fully vaccinated travelers, regardless of where they are from, would be welcome to travel to the United States from November. At that time, the White House has not provided the official date.
