On August 23, USCIS announced that it had received a sufficient number of petitions needed to reach the 65,000 H-1B visa regular cap and the 20,000 H-1B visa U.S. advanced degree exemption for fiscal year 2023. Last year, USCIS conducted multiple visa lotteries because of a low number of petitions from initial elections. This year, USCIS selected a much higher number of registrants. USCIS also received a much higher number of registrations, 483,000 this year compared to 308,000 in fiscal year 2022.
