On May 16, 2022, the U.S. embassy in Kyiv reopened after closing on February 14, ten days in advance of Russia’s February 24 invasion of Ukraine.
Operations at the embassy in Kyiv have officially resumed, and limited numbers of diplomats will return to staff the mission. Currently, the consular operations have not resumed, and a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory from the State Department remains in place.
