US Embassy In India Stops In-Person Appointments for Students

The US Embassy in India will suspend in-person appointments for students from January 15 through the end of the month. The change was announced via tweet.

The embassy will honor the previously scheduled appointments as it continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19 across India and local health and safety guidelines.

The embassy interviewed a record number of applicants for the winter student season, October 1 to January 15. Additionally, more than 55,000 Indian students and exchange visitors to the United States were granted student visas, an all-time high despite the limitations brought on by the pandemic.
