According to a White Paper published by the Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, the government plans for a new single skills-based immigration system that will end the free movement of EU nationals to the UK. The new immigration system will present a path for skilled workers which will apply to all nationalities equally. The proposed minimum salary for skilled workers under the new regulation is £30,000. The government may also consider eliminating the cap on high-skilled visas altogether. Current government policy is to allow 20,700 high-skilled workers into the UK each year on Tier 2 visas.
