On October 22, 2018, The UAE cabinet adopted and implemented new visa rules designed to relax visa restrictions and boost the property market. Under the new rules, tourist visas may now be extended twice in-country for an additional 30 days at a time. Effective next year, a new five-year visa will be available for retired foreign nationals over the age of 55, provided the retiree has invested in a property worth AED 2 million, has financial savings of AED 1 million or more, or has an active income of no less than AED 20,000 per month.
