With a cap of 20,700 in the UK’s Tier-2 visa program for professionals, the country is continuing to experience a shortage of nurses and doctors. In an attempt to encourage UK companies to attract foreign professionals from countries outside the European Union, the UK government announced that it will, therefore, exempt doctors and nurses from the annual cap. This exemption will further allow for the current monthly quota to be allocated to other professions, which should benefit highly skilled workers in IT, engineering, and teaching.
