The UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) is planning a pilot project where UAE nationals, residents, and expatriates, can visit a kiosk to rewew their passport and Emirates ID and submit their biometrics.
- If the pilot is successful, the kiosks would be stationed at commonly visited areas, like airports and shopping malls.
- If implemented, the use of kiosks would allow UAE residents and visitors to bypass the need to schedule biometric appointments at ICP service centers, and they would have access to the kiosks 24/7.
- The kiosks are equipped with a printer to do on-demand printing of IDs, visas, and passports.
The estimated timeline for the project is 2023/2024.
