Trump Threatens Shutdown Over Immigration

President Trump indicated his willingness to allow a federal shutdown over funding for his immigration policies, which could come to pass if the President and Congress cannot reach an agreement on federal spending by October 1. The US has experienced several government shutdowns or very close calls since 2016. Federal shutdowns can have a variety of impacts on immigration procedures, depending on their length, with the most noticeable effect being a halt of LCA and PERM processing at the Department of Labor. Longer-term shutdowns have previously led to severe delays in visa appointments as US consulates and embassies.
