Trump Links Honduran Aid to Immigration

President Trump threatened to halt foreign aid to Honduras as it did not stop a caravan of migrants seeking to cross into Mexico, with the ultimate aim to enter the United States. The caravan consists of approximately 7,000-10,000 people and is currently in Mexico traveling northward. This follows an announcement in May to end Temporary Protected Status for Honduran citizens in the United States. President Trump reiterated his threat on Thursday, promising to cut aid to Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador for failure to take action. USAID reports that the US has distributed over 152 million USD to Honduras since FY2016.
