The UK Updates the Right to Work Checks Policy with a New End Date

This update replaces previous guidance from April 20, 2021.
The UK Home Office has announced that the temporary adjustments to the right work checks will end on June 20, 2021.  In March 2020, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide, the government allowed right to work checks to be facilitated via video calls, and job applicants and employees could send scanned documents via email instead of sending originals.

From June 21, 2021, employers will need to check the applicant’s original documents or check the applicant’s right to work online with their share code.

Employers will not need to carry out retrospective checks for those who had an adjusted check between March 30, 2020, and June 20, 2021.
