The UK Home Office has announced that the temporary adjustments to the right work checks will end on May 16, 2021. In March 2020, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide, the government allowed right to work checks to be facilitated via video calls, and job applicants and employees could send scanned documents via email instead of sending originals.
From May 17, 2021, employers will need to check the applicant’s original documents or check the applicant’s right to work online with their share code.
Employers will not need to carry out retrospective checks for those who had an adjusted check between March 30, 2020, and May 16, 2021.
