The Taiwan National Immigration Agency has issued recent changes, some with immediate effect.
Key points of revision |
Regulations before revision |
Regulations after revision |
(The previous amendment was aimed at professionals, but now it is open to general foreigners) |
The applicant must live in Taiwan for 5 years and stay more than 183 days each year. |
The applicant must live in Taiwan for 5 years and stay for more than 183 days/per year on average. It favors white-collar employees who have to travel frequently due to business travel and may be unable to live in Taiwan for a long time. |
|
Previously, only the main applicant could apply for APRC, the spouse and children were not mentioned. |
The applicants who hold professional work permits and meet the above criteria for APRC applications, whose spouses, children under the age of 18, and children with disabilities are also included in the APRC application. Please note each applicant still needs to live in Taiwan for 5 years and stay for more than 183 days/per year on average. |
(However, we have checked with the immigration office, and it is still not announced when they will change this requirement to 30 days.) |
Those who have obtained a residence visa shall apply to the Immigration Department for an ARC within 15 days of entering the country. |
The deadline for foreigners who have obtained a residence visa to apply for an ARC after entering the country has been extended from 15 days to 30 days. |
