Taiwan Nomad Visa Goes Into Effect

Effective January 2, 2025, Taiwan has rolled out a new visa program for digital nomads, allowing them to stay for up to six (6) months. The Taiwan Nomad Visa is for foreign nationals working remotely in Taiwan for an employer overseas. The employment should not have any connection with any local Taiwanese entities.

Requirements & Eligibility

The Taiwan Nomad Visa is only applicable to visa-exempt nationals.

  1. Those who have obtained digital nomad visas issued by other countries and intend to work remotely in Taiwan. For applicants who have previously obtained digital nomad visas from other countries, the Ministry of the Interior’s review process will be waived, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will directly issue the visa.
  2. Individuals aged 30 or above with an annual income of at least US$40,000 in one of the last 2 years, or those aged 20 to 29 with an annual income of at least US$20,000 in one of the last 2 years.

Depending on the program’s results, the government will consider extending the stay period, conducting rolling reviews, and studying revisions to relevant laws. Plans include establishing an online application platform for the digital nomad visa and providing one-stop services for digital nomads.
