The government of Switzerland announced it would extend the temporary protection directive for Ukrainian refugees until March 4, 2024.
“The situation in Ukraine is not expected to change in the foreseeable future. The Federal Council, therefore, decided at its meeting on November 9 not to lift the protection status S for Ukrainian refugees before March 4, 2024, unless the situation in Ukraine changes fundamentally before then,” the statement of the Federal Council reads.
Additionally, Ukrainian refugees with S protection status, which is limited to one year, will have their status extended for another year.

Switzerland’s extension follows the Commission of the European Union’s decision to permit Ukrainian refugees to stay in the EU under temporary protection until 2024.
