Sri Lanka Pauses New Online Visa System

Following a decision by the Sri Lanka Supreme Court on August 2, 2024, the recently launched eVisa program is being suspended. The previous electronic travel authorisation (ETA) system will be reinstated.
According to reports, the ETA system is expected to be operational “within the course of next week.”
Travellers from Afghanistan, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Myanmar, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, and Syria cannot obtain a visa upon arrival in Sri Lanka. Travelers from these countries must apply through the headquarters of the Department of Immigration through a representative.
