Spain Requires Testing for Travelers from Omicron-Affected Areas

The Government of Spain has announced new entry requirements for all travelers from areas that have been affected by the Omicron variant. Spain’s “high-risk” list currently includes Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

All travelers from these countries must have proof of vaccination or recovery and present a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours before arrival. Testing is required for all travelers, regardless of their vaccination or recovery status.

Spain has also expanded its “risk list” to include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Sweden.

Travelers from these countries must show proof of vaccination with an approved vaccine or proof of recovery. Travelers from the UK must also hold a valid vaccination or recovery certificate.

Travelers from the EU and Schengen Area who cannot show proof of vaccination or recovery must have negative test results to gain entry to Spain.
