Spain Changes Visa Guidance for Foreign Nationals in the AV or Art Sector

The Government of Spain issued new guidance for the entry and stay in Spain for foreign nationals who work in the audiovisual sector or arts, either for performance or broadcast and mass media.

Key Highlights
  • If the foreign national will be undertaking activities for fewer than 90 days in any 180-day period, they do not require work authorization. Entry will be under the Schengen regulations. If foreign nationals are subject to a visa requirement, a uniform visa will be issued.
    • If the 90 day period must be extended due to unexpected reasons, it is possible to submit a stay permit up to 180 days. However, the application must be submitted at least 30 days before the original expiration.
  • If the foreign national will be undertaking activities for between 90 and 180 days, they must have a visa to stay for the audiovisual sector. The application is submitted at the Spanish consulate with jurisdiction over the applicant’s residence and the processing time is 10 working days.
  • If the foreign national will be undertaking activities for more than 180 days, they must have residence authorization for the audiovisual sector. The processing time is 20 working days.

Family members accompanying the participants may obtain the visas and authorizations allowing their accompaniment.
