The Slovak government has simplified and streamlined the residence procedures for foreign nationals living in Slovakia. The new rules are expected to go into effect on January 1, 2023.
Key Highlights
- Third-country nationals who apply for temporary residence will be able to reside in Slovakia while waiting for a decision on their application.
- The police can reject a new temporary residence application for business if it is deemed that the applicant knowingly circumvented the requirement to prove the business’s profitability after taxes.
- Third-country nationals who are renewing a temporary residence permit for business purposes will have ten days from the residence renewal to pay claims.
- There will be a one-year period when third-country nationals cannot change the purpose of their temporary residence permit.
