The Portuguese government announced a 1-year residence permit for third-country workers. The visa for digital nomads will go into effect on October 30, 2022.
Individuals applying for a digital nomad visa must present proof of tax residency and an employment contract or other form of a work contract. Additionally, digital nomad visa holders must have an average monthly income of at least 400% of the national minimum wage in Portugal, $689 a month.
The digital nomad trend took off with the COVID-19 pandemic as remote working became possible for a greater number of workers.
