USCIS Releases DACA Implementation Memo

On Monday, August 24, USCIS announced the implementation of official changes to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program first introduced in July. As outlined in the memo, first-time DACA applicants will be rejected, and existing DACA holders will have to renew their status and work permit each year, instead of every two years. Under the new guidelines, DACA recipients’ requests for advanced parole, to travel internationally, will be largely rejected unless it is a case of “urgent humanitarian needs or significant public benefit.”
