Beginning in April, Cubans with relatives already living in Mexico will have the option to pursue an expedited application process to obtain a Mexican visa via special appointments made available for them at the Mexican consulate in Havana. In 2020, about 20,000 Cubans were given residency in Mexico. Many Cubans enter Mexico on their way to the US; some are returned to Cuba, some receive residency in Mexico, and some continue to the US.
