Reuter’s has reported that Mexico will be imposing visa requirements for Brazilian visitors. This news follows recent talks between the Biden administration and Mexico, where the Biden administration asked Mexico to impose visa requirements in order to make the route to the United States via Mexico less favorable. Mexico last required visitor visas for Brazilians in 2004.
It is expected that the new regulations will be published in Mexico’s official gazette in about 30 days, and the draft would go into effect 15 days later for a start date of late November or early December.

As it is already very difficult to get a visa appointment with the Mexican Consulates in Brazil, we expect this will be a major hurdle for Brazilians hoping to travel to Mexico.
