Johana Arias

Staff Attorney

Johana Arias is a staff attorney at Erickson Immigration Group, focusing on nonimmigrant visa petitions and responses to complex Requests for Evidence.

She has experience with U.S. nonimmigrant (NIV) and immigrant (IV) employment-based visas, drafting responses to complex Requests for Evidence for H-1B, TN and EB-2 National Interest Waiver immigrant petitions. Prior to joining EIG, Johana worked in a variety of legal settings, including non-profit organizations, law firms, and the District of Columbia court system.

Johana graduated from George Mason University, where she majored in Government and International Politics. She earned a Juris Doctor from The District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law. During law school, she completed two judicial internships at the Superior Court for the District of Columbia for The Honorable Hiram E. Puig-Lugo, the Presiding Judge of the Family Court and Associate Judge Anita Josey-Herring when she presided over a criminal felony docket. Additionally, she completed a judicial internship at the Arlington Immigration Court. She was also a Certified Student Attorney for the Housing and Consumer Law Clinic, where she  appeared before a judge successfully arguing that sanctions against her client be vacated in Landlord-Tenant Court.

She obtained a master of laws in Business and Finance Law from The George Washington University Law School. She worked as a research assistant to Dean Celorio, professorial lecturer for International and Comparative Legal Studies and director of the International and Comparative Law program at GW Law, writing assignments, including quizzes and legal memoranda for two legal writing courses.

Johana is an editor, actor, and writer in the DC theater community. She was a co-editor and playwright for the play "Chupachocolata," which premiered at the Atlas Intersections Festival 2024.

In her free time, Johana enjoys traveling, and hiking with friends, family, and her puppy Luna.
