The Government of Malaysia announced on May 15, 2023, that companies registered with the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) must update their information by May 31, 2023. According to the announcement, this is a one-time exercise to ensure that the company details are current and in line with the most recent business profile.
Key Information
Companies registered with the ESD will need to:
- Purchase the latest e-SSM at the ESD portal
- Update the Company Information related to the “Primary Sector/Industry” and “Approving Agency/Regulatory Body,” and note whether the company is headquartered in Malaysia, and provide the address.

To minimize the risk of application delays, if a company has undergone changes to its name, business address, or phone number, those changes should be reported to the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) before undertaking the Company Update via ESD.
