Latvia Expands Screening for International Travel

The Government of Latvia announced an expanded screening protocol for travelers from 20 countries — Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.

All travelers will be subject to a COVID-19 PCR test, including those who are fully vaccinated, have proof of recovery, and pre-travel tests. Exemptions include transit passengers, children under 12 years old, air and sea crews, and individuals traveling for diplomatic or international affairs.

Concurrently, travelers who have visited Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, and Zimbabwe in the last ten days are banned from entry.

Latvian citizens and EU long-term residents with residence permits in Latvia will still be permitted entry but must show a negative test result taken within 72 hours of entry, perform a COVID RNA test on arrival and within eight days of arriving, and complete a mandatory ten-day quarantine.
