July 2014 Visa Bulletin Brings Significant Gains for EB-2 India
The U.S. Department of State released the July 2014 Visa Bulletin today. Notably, the EB-2 India priority date jumped nearly 4 years, from November 15, 2004 to September 1, 2008. The explanation given for the priority date change is that the unused numbers from the EB-1 category have been added to EB-2 India.
Such a large jump in dates will allow many individuals to file for adjustment of status; thus, we anticipate great demand in this category. As a result of the projected surge in demand, our expectation is that the U.S. State Department will move the dates back in the upcoming months.
The July 2014 Visa Bulletin can be summarized as follows:
EB-1
- All countries remain current.
EB-2
- Persons in the EB-2 category and born in China are current if they have a priority date before the cut-off date of July 1, 2009. This category has advanced by 40 days.
- Persons in the EB-2 category and born in India are current if they have a priority date before the cut-off date of September 1, 2008. This category has advanced by 3 years, 9 months, 17 days.
- The worldwide quota, Mexico, and the Philippines remain current.
EB-3
- Persons in the EB-3 category and falling into the worldwide quota are current if they have a priority date before the cut-off date of April 1, 2011. This category remains unchanged.
- Persons in the EB-3 category and born in China are current if they have a priority date before the cut-off date of October 1, 2006. This category remains unchanged.
- Persons in the EB-3 category and born in India are current if they have a priority date before the cut-off date of November 1, 2003. This category has advanced by 17 days.
- Persons in the EB-3 category and born in Mexico are current if they have a priority date before the cut-off date of April 1, 2011. This category remains unchanged.
- Persons in the EB-3 category and born in the Philippines are current if they have a priority date before the cut-off date of January 1, 2009. This category has advanced by 1 year.
EB-4 and EB-5
- All countries remain current.
