Australia’s Department of Home Affairs has tasked Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA) to develop a new Core Skills Occupations List (CSOL). The CSOL will become the basis for one of the following 3 visa pathways under a new Skills in Demand visa which is to replace the 482 visa later this year:
- Specialist Skills pathway (salary over $135,000)
- Core Skills pathway (salary over $70,000 and under $135,000)
- Skills in Demand pathway (salary under $70,000).
The consultation and JSA’s initial thoughts may be accessed on the JSA website where 3 lists appear:
- Draft confident ON list of occupations;
- Draft confident OFF list of occupations;
- Draft occupations for further targeted consultation.
JSA invites feedback on their initial draft and the closing date for submissions is May 10, 2024.
