On November 17, the Government of Japan issued significant changes to the AMPA process, Japan’s initial plans to reopen.
- Documents will now be submitted online via a designated website instead of via email and attachments.
- A third party is now allowed to represent a client company and submit the AMPA application on their behalf. However, a third party is NOT permitted to update information once submitted; this must be done by the client company by logging in to a designated website.
- The Activity Plan can be submitted and then finalized before the traveler arrives in Japan. The Activity Plan details the work to be performed in Japan by the traveler.
The Government of Japan continues to release additional details of the new policy, and the guidance is likely to change with little notice. Please contact your EIG attorneys if you require assistance with the Application for Ministry Pre-approval.
Erickson Immigration Group will continue to share updates as more news is available. If you have questions about anything we’re reporting above or case-specific questions, please contact your EIG attorney.
