Japan | Individual Tourism to be Permitted from September

The Japanese government has announced that it will permit individual international tourists to enter Japan, so long as they book their travel through a travel agent or agency. Currently, tourists are allowed entry only if they are part of a guided tour. The new guidance is expected to go into effect in September.

Japan reopened to foreign tourists in June. However, travelers had to be part of a guided tour and obtain a visa, as well as follow any COVID-19 mask and health requirements.
