European Union Expands List of Recognized Vaccination Certificates

The European Union’s Commission will recognize the vaccination certificates from Montenegro, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, and Uruguay from December 23, 2021. These national vaccination certificates are equivalent to the EU Digital COVID Certificate.

What to Expect
  • Travelers from Montenegro, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay, and other approved countries, who are fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) can enter the EU under the same rules as EU nationals holding an EU Digital COVID Certificate.
  • The EU Commission has set a validity period of 270 days for vaccination certificates, and the same rules will apply to third-country travelers with accepted vaccination certificates.
  • Travelers from the EU and Schengen Area countries to Montenegro, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay, and other approved countries, will be able to enter with an EU vaccination certificate restriction-free.

More than 60 countries on five continents connect to the EU Digital COVID Certificate, including the following third countries: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Cabo Verde, El Salvador, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Israel, Lebanon, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Panama, Serbia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Togo, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and Uruguay.
