EU Makes COVID-19 Vaccination Certificates Valid for 9 Months

The European Union’s Commission announced that the EU Vaccination Certificate would be valid for 270 days or nine months. The 9-month validity window will be uniformly applied by all Member States. The nine-month validity rules will go into effect on February 1, 2022.

The nine months is based on the guidance from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, which advises booster doses after no more than six months and allows for an additional grace period of three months to ensure access and availability.

The 270-day expiration will be monitored within the mobile application.
