According to sources, the EU has postponed the launch of the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) until at least May 2025. Reports blame the delays of the implementation of the Entry/Exit System EES, noting that the EES must be operational in order to launch ETIAS.
According to French media outlets, France had been advocating to delay the launch until after the Paris Olympic Games, to avoid long waits and confusion at the border and airports during this highly popular international event.
