EU Member States Agree to Asylum & Migrant Laws

On Thursday, June 8, the Home Affairs ministers from the 27 EU Member States agreed to revised asylum and migrant laws.

Yesterday’s decision of the Council of the EU was on a negotiating position on the asylum procedure regulation (APR) and on the asylum and migration management regulation (AMMR), which aims to modernize the EU’s asylum rules.

This position will form the basis of negotiations by the Council presidency with the European Parliament. Several further rounds of negotiation, lasting months at least, are likely to follow before these regulation pass into law, and are then transposed by EU Member States.

The agreed proposals are laid out here; they are unlikely to affect corporate immigration.
