EIG US and Global Update | January 6, 2021

International Updates

Germany | Chancellor Angela Merkel announced on Tuesday that the nationwide lockdown would extend until the end of the month. For the first time since the pandemic began, non-essential travel will be restricted. In the hardest-hit areas, movement will be limited to a 9-mile radius. 

Portugal | The government has approved an extension for the state of emergency until January 15. 

Switzerland | The government plans to extend the lockdown for another 5 weeks until the end of February. A formal decision is expected next week.
