UPDATE: USCIS to Close its Overseas Offices

In March 2019, USCIS announced its plan to close all of its overseas offices.However, on August 9, 2019, USCIS updated its plans and announced thatseven of the international offices will remain open. The field offices in Monterrey, Mexico and Seoul, South Korea will be the first to be closed at the end of September. USCIS plans to close thirteen more field offices and three district offices between now and August 2020. While many services provided by the international field offices will be handled domestically moving forward, the Department of State will inherit the functions that the field offices currently offer.
