Erickson Immigration Group is following this story as it evolves.

The Quebec Premier has issued a new immigration goal for the province: they should all speak French.

According to a speech, the policy would apply to foreign nationals seeking permanent residency on economic grounds. Temporary work visa holders and refugees would be exempt from the proposed language requirement.

The announcement has been met with criticism and calls for additional exceptions.
