Brazil Updates Requirements for International Travelers

On October 5, the Government of Brazil announced updates to border policies related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The land borders remain closed to non-residents foreign nationals unless they are en route to their home destination.
Key Changes
  • Travelers from India, South Africa, and the UK can now travel to Brazil without quarantining on arrival.
  • Travelers flying to Brazil must provide a negative PCR test performed within 72 hours or a negative antigen test taken within 24 hours of boarding. In addition, a traveler’s health declaration form is due to the airline before boarding.
  • Children under two are exempt, as are children under 12 accompanied by an adult with a negative test.
  • From November, domestic cruises are permitted to operate in Brazil; international ships cannot stop at Brazilian ports.
