Effective May 11, 2026, the government of Brazil has eliminated short-stay visa requirements for holders of ordinary passports issued by the People’s Republic of China. The agreement is in place from May 11, 2026 to December 31, 2026.
What to Expect
- Chinese visitors can enter Brazil for up to 30 days visa-free for tourism, business meetings, airport transit, non-remunerated artistic or sporting events and certain short-term technical activities.
- The waiver is based on reciprocity as China has permitted Brazilians to travel visa-free since June 1, 2025.
- Brazilian consulates in China will continue to issue visas for stays longer than 30 days or for activities not covered by the ordinance. Visitors who overstay the 30-day period will be fined and may lose permission to enter in the future.
